Father and Son while Praying

Cute Video.. Don't forget to share it after watching..

It was also reported that he (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) allowed a small boy to ride on his shoulders and he still completed the prayer. This was reported by ‘Abd-Allaah ibn Shaddaad from his father: “The

Are you waiting for this day? Don't pass the day without doing many good deeds & getting loads of Rewards!... MashaAllaah! ♥

Here are the sunnahs you can do Friday: !!►► [REMINDER]

2 - Before and during Salaat al-Jumu’ah (Friday prayer):

➲ Bathing on the day of Jumuah [Bukhari & Muslim: #1951 & #977]

Virtues of Friday

The Prophet -sallAllâhu 'alaihi wassallam- said: "Friday is the master of days, and the greatest of them before Allâh. It is greater before Allâh than the day of al-Adha and the day of al-Fitr. It has five characteristics:

1. On this day Allâh created Adam -'alaihissallam,
2. On it He sent Adam -'alaihissallam- down to the earth,
3. On it Allâh caused Adam -'alaihissallam- to die,
4. On it there is a time when a person does not ask Allâh for anything but He gives it to him, so long as he does not ask for anything haraam, and
5. On it the Hour will begin.

There is no angel who is close to Allâh, no heaven, no earth, no wind, no mountain and no sea that does not fear Friday.”

[Narrated by Ibn Maajah; 1084; Classed as hasan by Shaykh al-Albaani in Saheeh al-Jaami’, no. 2279]

MASHA ALLAH! Young girls learning Qur'an in a masjid in Gaza.

May Allah preserve them and make them the flag bearers of Islam. Despite their difficulties they still ensure they practice Islam. How many of us are guilty of "neglecting" and "sidelining" Islam because we are busy chasing after the glitter and glamour of the dunya? Remember, as you sow, so shall you reap! Your children are never too small to start practicing deen!

“O you who believe! Ward off yourselves and your families against a Fire (Hell) whose fuel is men and stones, over which are (appointed) angels stern (and) severe, who disobey not, (from executing) the Commands they receive from Allaah, but do that which they are commanded.”
[Surah at-Tahreem 66:6]

THE KA'BAH MADE ME ACCEPT ISLAM

Once, while on a visit to Washington, people told me that a woman had accepted Islam and had some questions for me. They told me that many non-practicing Muslim women had started practicing again due to her. At prayer time she would dress in her best clothes as if readying herself for someone special, and would become oblivious to everything around her as soon she started praying.

After a brief question and answer session, I asked her what prompted her to accept Islam.

She sighed and started explaining; "I was a Jew

Aisha Siddiqa bint Abu Bakr

Gradually the Muslims who remained in Mecca left the city and traveled to Medina to join their beloved Prophet, and amongst them was a little girl called 'A'isha, the daughter of Abu Bakr. Soon after arriving in Medina, 'A'isha, who was now nine years old, as married to the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), who was now fifty-four years old. It was at this point that she left her family's household and joined that the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him). 'A'isha later reported that the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) had told her that Jibril came to him and showed him a picture of her on a piece of green silk and said, "She is your wife in this world and in the next world." About her wedding,

Kindness Towards Parents

If someone came to you today and offered you a free lunch, what would be your response? No doubt you would smile, speak kindly to them, and reserve a special place in your heart for their memory. Why is it then that our parents receive only cold stares, harsh words and bitter treatment and they are who they are in our lives? For twenty or thirty years they fed us, clothed us, washed us, and showered their mercy on our soft skin. Their love for us never dies even if we do, love that goes even beyond us, to our children and even their children.

Some Words about Music

Music and Movies(indecent, dirty and immodest) corrupts the mind, heart and soul. Do taubah from it, as it takes us far away from our Lord and Allah is Most Forgiving and Merciful.Soul will go to Allah, where as body will be eaten by insects after death.
We must feed the soul by reciting Quran, doing zikr (tasbeeh and remembrance of Allah), doing good deeds and spending time to learn and get knowledge of Islam and understanding our religion. May Allah guide us to the straight path. Ameen!

Forgive, but never forget

We have been taught "to forgive, but never forget", right?

Most of us lie when we say that we have forgiven the people for their mistakes and wrongdoings but then we continue to remind them of their mistake sometimes. Maybe in anger or maybe just to tease or make them feel hurt.

Is this a forgiveness we want for ourselves as well?

STORY -- The Emperor and the Seed

An emperor in the Far East was growing old and knew it was time to choose his successor. Instead of choosing one of his assistants or his children, he decided something different. He called young people in the kingdom together one day. He said, "It is time for me to step down and choose the next emperor. I have decided to choose one of you."

The kids were shocked! But the emperor continued. "I am going to give each one of you a seed today. One very special seed. I want you to plant the seed, water it and come back here one year from today with what you have grown from this one seed. I will then judge the plants that you bring, and the one I choose will be the next emperor!"

One boy named Ling was there that day and he, like the others, received a seed. He went home and excitedly told his mother the story. She helped him get a pot and planting soil, and he planted the seed and watered it carefully. Every day he would water it and watch to see if it had grown. After about three weeks, some of the other youths began to talk about their seeds and the plants that were beginning to grow.

Islam: The Speediest Spreading Religion

The western statistics confirm that Islam is the speediest spreading religion in the world, particularly in western countries. Therefore, what are the indicators? Is there any prophetic or Qur’anic miracle? Let’s read….

"Fast-growing Islam winning converts in Western world", report published by CNN site, admits that an amazing number of people is increasingly and rapidly embracing each year in the western world. More 1200 mosques have been built in the United States within 12 years (average of hundred mosques per year). The most astonishing fact is that majority of Americans embracing Islam become Islamic preacher after that they marvelously respect and apply the observance!

In spite of lack of accurate statistics, majority of researchers confirm that, after the 11 sep.

The Price of Imaan

Several years ago an Imaam moved to London. He often took the bus from his home to the town area. Some weeks after he arrived, he had occasion to ride the same bus.

When he sat down, he discovered that the driver had accidentally given him twenty pence too much change. As he considered what to do, he thought to himself, you better give the twenty pence back. It would be wrong to keep it. Then he thought, oh forget it, it’s only twenty pence. Who would worry about this little amount? Anyway, the bus company already gets too much fare; they will never miss it. Accept it as a gift from Almighty Allah and keep quiet.

When his stop came, the Imaam paused momentarily at the door, then he handed the twenty pence back to the driver and said “Here, you gave me too much change.”

The driver with a smile replied “Aren’t you the new Imaam in this area? I have been thinking lately about going to worship at your mosque. I just wanted to see what you would do if I gave you too much change.”

The Wisdom of the Shaykh

An incident once took place when a student of Knowledge was taking a walk with his teachers in one of the gardens of their Madrassah. During this walk, the student decided to address a problem he was facing and seek its remedy from his teacher. He began to tell his teacher, ‘I have a spiritual ailment; I am habitual of talking ill of others and mentioning matters about them behind their backs.’

The teacher carried on walking for a moment and then asked him, ‘do you have a mobile phone?’ The student answered affirmatively and took out his phone to show his teacher. The phone was one of the latest models on the market and he had just purchased it recently.

Upon seeing the phone and the student’s attachment to it, he asked the student to throw the phone in a nearby mud patch and trample upon it. Whilst astonished by the teacher’s request, the student questioned, ‘how can I throw this phone on the floor? It has cost me a lot of money and is worth a lot to me.’

The Cave

Rasul (sal Allahu alaihi wa sallam) said: “Three men from among those who were before you, set out together till they reached a cave at night and entered it. A big rock rolled down the mountain and closed the mouth of the cave. They said (to each other), ‘Nothing can save you from this rock but to invoke Allah by giving reference to a righteous deed which you did (for Allah's sake only).’ So, one of them said, ‘O Allah! I had old parents and I never provided my family (wife, children) with milk before them.

One day, by chance I was delayed, and I came late (at night) while they had fallen asleep. I milked the sheep for them and took the milk to them, but I found them sleeping. I disliked to provide my family with the milk before them. I waited for them and the bowl of milk was in my hand and I kept on waiting for them to get up till the day dawned. Then they got up and drank the

Eat from the sides

The Messenger of Allah (sal Allahu alaihi wa sallam) said: “Blessing descends upon food in its middle, so eat from the sides of the vessel and do not eat from its middle.” [Tirmidhi]

This hadith tells us in which manner to eat from the food before us. We should eat from the portion in front of us or from the sides of the dish and definitely not from its middle. This will allow Allah’s blessing to continue to descend on the food, making it sufficient and nourishing for us. In addition, and most importantly, we will get the reward for following the Sunnah if we eat in this manner, inshaAllah.

Contemplation

''Indeed, do we not contemplate within ourselves? Hasn’t the time come for us to sit with ourselves and ponder? To think deeply? Ramadan is the perfect time for this; a chance to think over the past year. Think about what happened since the last Ramadan, what did you do? Is there a blessing you can give thanks for? Is there a sin for which to seek forgiveness from? Were there lessons for you to learn from? Were there Divine warnings for you to pay heed to?''

“Do they not contemplate within themselves? Allah has not created the heavens and the earth and what is between them except in truth and for a specified term. And indeed, many of mankind deny the Meeting with their Lord.” [al-Rum Q 30 : 8]

Contemplation is a gift from Allah to the slave. It is a chance to engage your soul and extract everything so that you can purify yourself and take control over your affairs. Al-Hasan al-Basri once said, “Contemplation is the key to Mercy. Don’t you see how a person contemplates and consequently repents?”

Save Muslims of Burma

Save Muslims of Burma

The Muslim world has been hurt more than once, we must admit. As one excruciating injury fades away, another comes out in the oblivion. It is very terrible when you see lots of people persecuted daily in Burma simply because they are Muslims. This goes against the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, which has as one aim, man’s dignity.Article 1states: “All human beings are born free and equal in dignity and rights. They are endowed with reason and conscience and should act towards one another in a spirit of brotherhood.”

What we see in Myanmar is far from this. It is an undeclared war against the Muslim population, a war driven by hatred and vengeance.

Fasting, A Gift From Your Creator

Fasting, A Gift From Your Creator
Fasting is one of the pillars of Islam. It has been an integral part of all major religions. The Prophet Jesus (peace be upon him) fasted for forty days before he was called to prophethood (Matthew 4:2). Similarly Prophet Moses (peace be upon him) fasted for forty days and nights before he was given the Law (Exodus 24:18).

Controlling Desires.... Fasting in Ramadan is a part of the broader program that Islam prescribes for man to fulfill his moral and spiritual destiny in this world and in the Hereafter. It is the special worship designed to develop in man the ability to exercise self-restraint and patience for the pleasure of Allah, man's Creator, Lord and Nourisher. Its objective is to give man the power to keep in check his unruly desires and tendencies that make him prone to greed, revenge, anger, provocation and fear; that make him commit various sins, acts of aggression, cruelty and oppression. It seeks to free the human soul and lends it the moral and spiritual strength to promote beauty, harmony, kindness, peace, compassion and justice. The Qur'an says:

To what extent is Islam concerned with knowledge?

Praise be to Allaah.
Allaah created man and provided him with the tools for acqruiring knowledge, namely hearing, sigh tand wisdom. Allaah says (interpretation of the meaning):

“And Allâh has brought you out from the wombs of your mothers while you know nothing. And He gave you hearing, sight, and hearts that you might give thanks (to Allâh)

[al-Nahl 16:78]

Islam is the religion of knowledge. The first aayah of the Qur’aan to be revealed enjoined reading which is the key to knowledge. Allaah says (interpretation of the meaning):

“Read! In the Name of your Lord Who has created (all that exists).

He has created man from a clot (a piece of thick coagulated blood).

Dua Collections For Students

DUA AFTER STUDYING

DUA WHILE STUDYING SOMETHING DIFFICULT

Allahumma la sahla illama ja-'altahu sahla wa anta taj 'alu al hazana etha shi'ta sahla
(O Allah! Nothing is easy except what You have made easy. If You wish, You can make the difficult easy.)

DUA FOR ANXIETY

What are we going to do once Ramadaan is over?

Get back to the old routine? The routine of music in bed, interest (riba) in dealings, gossip in gatherings, flirting in streets? The same old routine of neglecting salaah? Or have you decided to change, to really change, this time?

A sign that our efforts have been accepted in Ramadaan is that we continue to do good even after Ramadaan. It does not mean that we fast every single day even after Ramadaan. We all know we will not be going to the masjid for naafil prayers outside of Ramadaan that often. Our recitation too would decrease. That's the reality. But still there must be (there should be!) some

Naat-e-Rasul (sm)

You came to me in a time of despair
I called on you, you were there
Without You what would my life mean?
To not know the unseen, the worlds between

For you I'd sacrifice
For you I'd give my life
Anything, just to be with you

I feel so lost at times
By all the hurt and lies
Now all I want Is to be with you

You filled my heart with love
Showed me the light above
Now all I want is to be with you

You are my one true love
Taught me to never judge
Now all I want Is to be with you
ALLAHUMA! Sal 'ala Sayideena Mustafa

Virtues of Surah Ikhlas

1. The Prophet (saws) said to his companions, "Is it difficult for any of you to recite one third of the Qur'an in one night?" This suggestion was difficult for them so they said, "Who among us has the power to do so, O Allah's Messenger (saws)?" Allah Messenger (saws) replied: "Surah Al-Ikhlas (112th Surah) is equal to one third of the Qur'an."

2. The Messenger of Allah (saws) said, "Whoever recites (Qul Hu Allahu Ahad) ten times, Allah will build for him a house in Paradise."
Sahih Al-Bukhari

He will be followed by 70,000 Jews from Isfahan (present- day Iran). · The appearance of Gog and Magog, and the associated tribulations.

· The emergence of the Beast who will speak to the people, telling them they did not believe with certainty in the Divine Signs. This sign is among the major signs, and the scholars say that it will occur in the day where the sun will rise from the west.

· A major war between the Muslims led by the Leader Al-Mahdi, and the Jews plus other non-Muslims led by the Antichrist.

Woroud Sawalha at the London Olympics

Sawalha, who will be immediately recognizable by her black headscarf, long-sleeved top and long trousers, knows that when she steps up to the line in London, she won't just be representing herself.

She had her first taste of top-level international competition earlier this year at the world indoor championships in Istanbul.

She clocked two minutes 51.87 seconds in her heat for a personal best that was still more than 53 seconds slower than the gold medal-winning time.

Given her lack of preparation and the scant training resources available in her homeland, Sawalha knows a medal is beyond her, so her target is to further improve her personal best.

"My dream is to do something for Palestine and show the world that Palestine deserves to live and stand on the podium."

25 Ways to Enter Jannah

1.Whoever meets Allah without ascribing anything to Him will enter Jannah.[Bukhari]

2.Whoever believes (has emaan) in Allah and His Messenger (sal Allahu alayhi wa sallam), and establishes the prayer and fasts the month of Ramadan, it is incumbent upon Allah that He enters him in Jannah.[Bukhari]

3.Whoever builds a masjid seeking by it the Pleasure of Allah, Allah will build for him a similar place in Jannah. [Bukhari]
4.Whoever prays the two cool prayers (Asr and Fajr) will enter Jannah. [Bukhari]

5.Whoever goes to the masjid (every) morning and in the afternoon (for the ongregational prayer), Allah will prepare for him an honorable place in Jannah with good hospitality for (what he has done) every morning and afternoon goings. [Bukhari]

6.Whoever can guarantee (the chastity of) what is between his two jaw-bones and what is between his two legs (i.e. his tongue and his private parts), I guarantee Jannah for him. [Bukhari]

Beauty Tips for Sisters

My dear sisters in Islam, please take this advice so that you can stay attractive and beautiful for the rest of your life. Inshallah:

1. To beautify your eyes, lower your gaze towards non-mahram men. This will make your eyes pure and shiny.

2. To have attractive lips, always remember to speak the truth.

3. As for blush and rouge, 'modesty' or 'haya' is the best brand and can be found in any Islamic gathering.

4. To remove impurities from your face and body, use a cleanser called 'Astagfaar' (asking for forgiveness). Inshallah this type of cleansing will remove any bad deeds.

5. Now about your hair, if any of you have a problem of split ends, then wear Islamic hijab which will protect your hair from damage.

If you follow this advice given to you by the Creator (SWT), a beautiful and attractive inner and outer appearance will show. In'sha'Allah!

Life Style of Ants

Ants Colony Made 'Allah' Name on the Ground

In recent times, research has shown us several facts about the lifestyle of ants, which were not known earlier to mankind. Research has shown that the animals or insects whose lifestyle is closest in resemblance of the lifestyle of human beings are the ants. This can be seen from the following findings regarding ants:

The ants bury their dead in a manner similar to the humans.
They have a sophisticated system of division of labour.
Once in a while they meet among themselves to have a 慶hat?

The Propaganda of Terrorism

In fact, after September 11 and since, Muslim leaders and scholars have been voicing their condemnation of terrorism loud and clear. But, unfortunately most of the world media were not interested in giving them the kind of publicity they needed.

This was because of two main reasons:

One, they are controlled by vested interests disposed against Islam and Muslims for religious reasons.

Two, the media have a tendency to highlight the sensational and the spectacular; so they gave undeserving publicity to the alleged statements of extremists, rather than those of the moderates.
The above factors were responsible for giving the world, especially the western world, the impression that Muslims are silent against terrorism.

Islam is Totally Against Racism

Allah said: ‘What prevented you (O Satan) that you did not prostrate when I commanded you?’ Iblees (the Satan) replied: ‘I am better than him (Adam). You created me from fire, and him You created from clay.” (Quran 7:12)

So begins the history of racism. Satan thought himself superior to Adam on account of his origins.

Likewise every Prophet ( IN ALMOST EVERY RELIGION) was sent exclusively to his own people, every Prophet, that is, except Muhammad (PEACE BE UPON HIM)

“Say (O Muhammad): ‘O People! I am the Messenger of God sent to you all…’” (Quran 7:158)
As Muhammad was God’s final Prophet and Messenger, his mission was a universal one, intended for not only his own nation, the ARABS, but all the peoples of the WORLD. The Prophet said:

“Every other Prophet was sent to his nation exclusively, while I have been sent to all of humanity.” (Saheeh Al-Bukhari)

It seeks to free the human soul and lends it the moral and spiritual strength to promote beauty, harmony, kindness, peace, compassion and justice. The Qur'an says:

How to increase our faith?

◘•Recite and ponder on the meanings of the Quran. Tranquility then descends and our hearts become soft. To get optimum benefit, remind yourself that Allah is speaking to you. People are described in different categories in the Quran; think of which one you find yourself in.

◘•Realize the greatness of Allah. Everything is under His control. There are signs in everything we see that points us to His greatness. Everything happens according to His permission. Allah keeps track and looks after everything, even a black ant on a black rock on a black moonless night.

◘•Make an effort to gain knowledge, for at least the basic things in daily life e.g. how to make wudu properly. Know the meanings behind Allah's names and attributes. People who have taqwa are those who have knowledge.

◘•Attend gatherings where Allah is remembered. In such gatherings we are surrounded by angels.

Signs of weak Faith

◘•Committing sins and not feeling any guilt.

◘•Having a hard heart and no desire to read the Quran.

◘•Feeling too lazy to do good deeds, e.g. being late for salat

◘•Neglecting the Sunnah.

◘•Having mood swings, for instance being upset about petty things and bothered and irritated most of the time.

◘•Not feeling anything when hearing verses from the Quran, for example when Allah warns us of punishments and His promise of glad tidings.

◘•Finding difficulty in remembering Allah and making dhikr.

Some Hadith About Jummah

☀ Beloved Prophet SalAllahu Alyehe Wasallam said, "Friday is the best of days. It was on this day that Hazrat Aadam Alayhis salaam was created, it was on this day that he was granted entry into Jannah, it was on this day that he was removed from Jannah (which became the cause for man's existence in this universe, and which is a great blessing), and the day of resurrection will also take place on this day. Khadijah R.A - A True love story of Muhammad S.A.W.S.

She was one of the noblest women around, coming from a very prominent family. She was also quite beautiful and the holder of a considerable amount of wealth, being a prominent businesswoman. To marry her would have been a great feat for any man, and indeed, quite a few of the most prominent and wealthy men in society had asked for her hand. Yet, she rejected them all; already being a widow, she had lost the desire to marry again.

Until he came into her life. He was young man of 25, and although he was also of a noble family, he was an orphan and was not a man of many means. He had made a meager living tending sheep in the hills surrounding the city. Yet, he had an impeccable moral character, and he was widely known as one of the most honest men around. That is what attracted her to him: she was looking for someone honest who could conduct business for her, as she - a woman in a fiercely patriarchal society - could not do it herself. So, he started working for her.

After he came back from his first business trip, she asked her servant, whom she sent with him, about him and his conduct. The servant amazed her by his report: this young man was the

Fruits of Ramadaan

From ad-Dawal ila-Allah

Allah - the Most High - has favored us with countless blessings, the greatest of them being Islam itself. Within the religion of Islaam there are many favors; one is the month of Ramadan, which is the ninth month of the Islamic calendar. However, many of us overlook this bounty and are thus left with an incomplete depiction of Ramadan, often viewing it as a month to get oneself into shape!! Or rigidly describing it as a training program teaching self-restraint. Most importantly Ramadan is an act of Ebadah (worship), the fulfillment of Allah's commandments and one of the great mercies of Allah to His believers for both this world and the next. lbn al-Qayyim [1] wrote in his famous book 'Zaadul-Ma'aad 2/8587 :'From the Mercy of the Mighty and Most Merciful is that He prescribed for them fasting which will cut off the excesses of eating and drinking and empties the hearts of its desires which divert it on its journey to Allah -the Most High. He prescribed it in due proportion as will be appropriate and will benefit the servant with regard to this world and to the Hereafter; and it will not harm him, nor damage what is beneficial for him.”

The Virtues of Ramadaan

The virtues of Qiyaam (prayer at night) during Ramadaan

Praise be to Allaah.

Abu Hurayrah (may Allaah be pleased with him) said: “The Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) used to encourage us to pray at night in Ramadaan, without making it obligatory. Then he said, ‘Whoever prays at night in Ramadaan out of faith and the hope of reward, all his previous sins will be forgiven.’ When the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) died, this is how things were (i.e., Taraaweeh was not prayed in congregation), and this is how they remained during the khilaafah of Abu Bakr (may Allaah be pleased with him), until the beginning of the khilaafah of ‘Umar (may Allaah be pleased with him).”

‘Amr ibn Murrah al-Juhani said: “A man from Qudaa’ah came to the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) and said, ‘O Messenger of Allaah! What do you think if I testify that there is no god except Allaah, and that you, Muhammad, are His Messenger, and I pray the five daily prayers, and fast in the month (of Ramadaan), and pray at night in

A blind boy sat on the steps of a building with a hat by his feet. He held up a sign which said: "I am blind, please help." There were only a few coins in the hat.

A man was walking by. He took a few coins from his pocket and dropped them into the hat. He then took the sign, turned it around, and wrote some words. He put the sign back so that everyone who walked by would see the new words.

Soon the hat began to fill up. A lot more people were giving money to the blind boy. That

Signs of Allah in Birds

Allah says in the Holy Quran:

"Do they not see the birds suspended in mid-air up in the sky? Nothing holds them there except Allah. There are certainly Signs in that for people who have faith." (Surat an-Nahl: 79)

A bird uses great energy when it takes flight because it has to lift all its body with its tiny wings. Yet, once it is up in the air, Allah has made it easy for it to remain aloft without expending too much effort. Birds can fly for a long time by allowing themselves to rely on the wind. This way, they hardly tire since they consume very little energy. When the effect produced by the wind diminishes, they begin to flap their wings again. By means of this feature Allah has given birds, they can cover very long distances and migrate to remote destinations.

Spending favorite things for Allah's sake

Allah, the Exalted, says:

"By no means shall you attain Al-Birr (piety, righteousness - here it means Allah's reward, i.e., Jannah), unless you spend (in Allah's Cause) of that which you love.'' (3:92)

"O you who believe! Spend of the good things which you have (legally) earned, and of that which We have produced from the earth for you, and do not aim at that which is bad to spend from it.'' (2:267)

Anas (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: Abu Talhah (May Allah be pleased with him) was the richest among the Ansar of Al-Madinah and possessed the largest property from palm-trees, and among his possessions what he loved most, was his garden known as Bairuha' which was opposite the mosque, and Messenger of Allah (sallallahu aliahi wa-sallam)

The punishment for breaking the fast in Ramadaan with no excuse

Praise be to Allaah.

Fasting in Ramadaan is one of the pillars on which Islam is built. Allaah tells us that He has prescribed it for the believers of this ummah [nation], as He prescribed it for those who came before them. Allaah says (interpretation of the meaning):

“O you who believe! Observing As-Sawm (the fasting) is prescribed for you as it was prescribed for those before you, that you may become Al-Muttaqoon (the pious”

[al-Baqarah 2:183]

“The month of Ramadan in which was revealed the Qur’aan, a guidance for mankind and clear proofs for the guidance and the criterion (between right and wrong). So whoever of you sights (the crescent on the first night of) the month (of Ramadan i.e. is present at his home), he must observe Sawm (fasts) that month, and whoever is ill or on a journey, the same number [of days which one did not observe Sawm (fasts) must be made up] from other days. Allaah intends for you ease, and He does not want to make things difficult for you. (He wants that you) must complete the same number (of days), and that you must magnify Allaah [i.e. to say Takbeer (Allaahu Akbar: Allaah is the Most Great)] for having guided you so that you may be grateful to Him”

[al-Baqarah 2:185]

Al-Bukhaari (8) and Muslim (16) narrated that Ibn ‘Umar (may Allaah be pleased with him) said: The Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “Islam is built on five (pillars): the testimony that there is no god but Allaah and Muhammad is the Messenger of Allaah; establishing prayer; paying zakaah; Hajj; and fasting Ramadaan.”

Whoever does not fast has abandoned one of the pillars of Islam, and is committing a grave major sin. Indeed some of the salaf were of the view that he is a kaafir [disbeliever] and apostate – we seek refuge with Allaah from that.

Abu Ya’la narrated in his Musnad from Ibn ‘Abbaas (may Allaah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “The bonds of Islam and the bases of religion are three, on which Islam was founded. Whoever gives up one of them becomes a kaafir thereby and it is permissible to shed his blood: the testimony that there is no god but Allaah, the prescribed prayers and fasting Ramadaan.”

This hadeeth was classed as saheeh by al-Dhahabi, and as hasan by al-Haythami in Majma’ al-Zawaa’id, 1/48, and by al-Mundhiri in al-Targheeb wa’l-Tarheeb, no. 805, 1486. Classed as da’eef by al-Albaani in al-Silsilah al-Da’eefah, no. 94.

Al-Dhahabi said in al-Kabaa’ir, p. 64.

Whoever does not fast in Ramadaan without being sick or having any other excuse that allows him not to fast is more evil than the adulterer or drunkard, indeed they doubted his Islam and thought that this was heresy.

A saheeh report which warns against not fasting was narrated by Ibn Khuzaymah (1986) and Ibn Hibbaan (7491) from Abu Umaamah al-Baahili who said: I heard the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) say: “Whilst I was sleeping two men came to me and took my by the arm and brought me to a cragged mountain. They said, ‘Climb up.’ I said, ‘I cannot.’ They said, ‘We will make it easy for you.’ So I climbed up until I was at the top of the mountain. Then I heard loud voices. I said, ‘What are these voices?’ They said, ‘This is the howling of the people of Hell.” Then I was taken until I saw people hanging by their hamstrings, with the sides of their mouths torn and blood pouring from their mouths.’ I said, ‘Who are these?’ He said, ‘These are people who broke their fast before it was time.’” Classed as saheeh by al-Albaani in Saheeh Mawaarid al-Zam’aan, no. 1509.

Al-Albaani (may Allaah have mercy on him) said: This is the punishment of those who fasted then broke the fast deliberately before the time for breaking the fast came, so who about those who do not fast at all? We ask Allaah to keep us safe and sound in this world and in the Hereafter.

Our advice to the brother who asked this question is to fear Allaah and to beware of His wrath, vengeance and a painful punishment. He should hasten to repent to Allaah before the destroyer of pleasures that splits people apart [i.e., death] takes him unawares. Today there is action and no reckoning, but tomorrow there will be the reckoning and no action. Note that whoever repents, Allaah will accept his repentance, and whoever draws closer to Allaah one hand span, Allaah will draw closer to him one cubit. For Allaah is Most Generous, Forbearing and Most Merciful, as He says (interpretation of the meaning):

“Know they not that Allaah accepts repentance from His slaves and takes the Sadaqaat (alms, charity), and that Allaah Alone is the One Who forgives and accepts repentance, Most Merciful?”

[al-Tawbah 9:104]

If you try fasting and find out how easy it is and what comfort it brings and how close it brings you to Allaah, you will never give it up.

Think about what Allaah says at the end of the verses on fasting (interpretation of the meaning):

“Allaah intends for you ease, and He does not want to make things difficult for you”

[al-Baqarah 2:185]

The phrase, “so that you may be grateful to Him” shows that fasting is a blessing for which we must give thanks. Hence some of the salaf used to wish that the whole year was Ramadaan.

We ask Allaah to help you and guide you, and to open your heart to that which will bring you happiness in this world and in the Hereafter.

And Allaah knows best.

Inna lillaahi wa inna ilayhi Raaji’oon

We say this statement when someone dies. Also some of us may say this sentence when they lose something, suffer a setback or harm.

But………..do you know what it means?

Sure, everyone know that it obviously means ‘To ALLAH we belong and to Him is our return.’ But that’s not what I am talking about.

I mean ….do you REALLY, TRULY understand these words and their implications in a Muslim’s life?

It means …whatever we have is not really ours. It belongs to ALLAH.

Take a look around you; everything you see, all that you have and all that there is….in you, on you, around you….belongs to ALLAH, alone.
